Mentoring grants

Communicative and curious minds wanted! Are you an artist, designer, or researcher with an innovative idea for science communication? The Terra Cognita Competition supports and mentors individuals or teams who aim to share scientific research  in interactive and groundbreaking ways. Winners can receive funding between €1,000 and €10,000 to bring their projects to life as part of Terra Cognita’s mission, along with exclusive mentoring at every stage.

The previous application phased closed in July 2024, and focused on communicating brain research with the topic "in the head of...." as theme. The next application phase begins in September 2025, and the topic will be announced in June. Applicants should submit a proposal outlining:

(1) The research to be communicated.

(2) The communication challenge they aim to address (e.g., reaching a new audience or tackling particularly complex content).

(3) The innovative format proposed to meet this challenge.

(4) The presentation opportunities hosted by Terra Cognita

Our mentorship will help transform your ideas into a final activity with the public, including in a special presentation of your project in Munich. Join us to push the boundaries of science communication!
